TL;DR
Mechanical Technician III (Aerospace): Building, integrating, testing, operating, and maintaining Neutron launch vehicle and ground-system mechanical assets with an accent on fluid-system fabrication, assembly, commissioning, and launch-pad operations. Focus on leading technician activities, troubleshooting mechanical systems, and performing precision work in demanding field and production environments.
Location: Wallops Island, Virginia, United States; onsite launch-site and field work
Salary: $30–$36 per hour

What you will do
- Fabricate, assemble, install, integrate, test, operate, and maintain mechanical subsystems for Neutron launch and test sites.
- Build and commission fluid systems and support precision cleaning of critical components.
- Lead or support daily activities for up to 3–5 technicians and help meet vehicle integration and launch-pad schedules.
- Develop workflow and operational best practices while ensuring work is completed on time and to quality standards.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and support launch-operations integration as needed.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and integration teams in Auckland, Long Beach, and Stennis Space Center.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of experience in an aerospace, industrial, or relevant environment.
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and/or fluid components.
- Experience assembling large structures and mechanisms.
- Proficiency with hand, power, and measurement tools used in mechanical construction.
- For U.S. office work, eligibility under U.S. ITAR requirements is required, such as U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylum status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.
Nice to have
- Ability to read and follow detailed schematics, drawings, and instructions.
- Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, and boom lifts.
- Understanding of pneumatic, cryogenic, and/or hydraulic fluid systems.
- Basic knowledge of pressure, temperature, and flow measurement instrumentation.
