Senior Backend Engineer (Healthcare)

Location: Hybrid in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

What you will do

• Build scalable platforms, APIs, and services for patient, pharmacy, and customer-facing web products.
• Own backend features from design and implementation through release.
• Improve system usability, performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Work with engineering, Product Management, and Design to translate functional and technical requirements into high-quality software.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns while promoting development best practices.
• Solve complex design and technical problems and support consistent user experiences.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing backend APIs, services, and platforms.
• Strong professional experience with Java, Spring, and SQL.
• Experience building scalable, customer-facing web applications.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, ownership, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to lead complex projects through planning, design, delivery, and maintenance with minimal guidance.
• Current Canadian work authorization is strongly preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with React, Terraform or Terragrunt, and AWS.
