Senior Software Developer (AWS)

Location: Toronto, ON, Canada. The role may require in-person onboarding and/or in-person identity verification.

Salary: CAD 107,000–157,300 annual starting base salary for Canada-based roles. Offers may exceed this range and may include bonuses, stock grants, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, and ship backend services and REST APIs on AWS, including serverless and event-driven components.
• Partner with architects, technical leads, and product owners to turn platform goals into technical designs and deliverables.
• Build reusable frameworks, automation, orchestration, and services for a broad range of applications.
• Own quality through unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, CI/CD pipelines, refactoring, and safe rollout and rollback practices.
• Lead complex technical projects from design through delivery, mentor developers, and raise engineering standards for quality, security, resiliency, and efficiency.
• Operate and improve services through observability, troubleshooting, on-call participation, incident response, and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools.

Requirements

• BA/BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience building and shipping backend software.
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend language such as Java, TypeScript, Python, Go, or Ruby.
• Experience designing, building, and versioning APIs, with solid knowledge of relational databases, schema design, and query optimization.
• Advanced AWS knowledge, including Lambda, SQS/SNS, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, and IAM, with hands-on experience running serverless, event-driven services.
• Experience with CI/CD, testing, observability, troubleshooting, design reviews, mentoring, and validating AI-generated code before release.
