Annual base salary: CAD 184,000–253,000

What you will do

• Set the technical direction for the Agent Access Policies framework and make cross-cutting architectural decisions.
• Design distributed, event-driven systems for throughput, reliability, consistency, and failure handling at scale.
• Turn vaguely specified platform challenges into clear, modular technical designs.
• Shape platform capabilities for both human and AI-agent consumers.
• Lead architectural reviews, raise engineering standards, mentor engineers, and align with adjacent technical teams.
• Drive improvements in AI-native development, CI/CD, observability, documentation, reliability, and support processes.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including Principal- or Staff-level individual contributor work.
• Extensive experience designing and operating high-scale, reliable backend and event-driven systems.
• Strong experience defining scalable backend architectures and integrating complex APIs with modern web technologies.
• Deep expertise building reliable, secure, enterprise-grade software in Java or another type-safe language.
• Solid understanding of web authentication, authorization, authentication flows, and sensitive-data security.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with identity, authorization, or IAM protocols such as OAuth, OIDC, or SAML.
• Hands-on familiarity with agentic tooling, MCP, or LLM-facing design.
• Experience leading changes in AI adoption, developer tooling, or engineering culture.
