Senior II Backend Developer (AWS)

Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Work modes include in-person, hybrid, and remote; remote hiring is available worldwide, with occasional travel for in-person team-building events.

hirify.global is a Quebec-based product company that develops AI-powered search and recommendations for digital experiences, websites, e-commerce, contact centers, and intranets.

What you will do

• Own and evolve reference libraries, developer tools, and reusable patterns used by microservices across R&D.
• Develop and operate the internet-facing entry point for hirify.global Platform APIs.
• Partner with development and cloud infrastructure teams to solve complex backend and platform challenges.
• Translate engineering feedback into improvements to the platform and developer experience.
• Assess system health, performance, and risks while driving reliability and scalability improvements.
• Lead work across design, implementation, deployment, and production operations.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience building and operating backend systems in cloud environments.
• Java and Spring Boot experience is preferred; AWS experience is an asset.
• Experience designing reusable software, libraries, or tooling for large-scale systems with complex infrastructure or significant user bases.
• Ability to independently assess technical trade-offs and risks and drive long-term solutions.
• Strong communication, collaboration, mentoring, and technical influence skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, continuous integration systems such as GitHub Actions, or equivalent technologies.
• Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source libraries.
• Experience with platform engineering, Istio or other service meshes, developer tooling, or developer experience improvements at scale.
