Fleet Operations Training Lead (AI)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, USA; on-site five days a week. The role supports Fleet Operations across the US and Japan and requires effective work across both time zones, with travel between operational locations when needed.

Salary: $100,000–$130,000 per year, plus a competitive equity package.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain the Fleet Operations training strategy and roadmap for the US and Japan.
• Design and deliver onboarding, technical, safety, compliance, and professional-development programs through instructor-led, virtual, practical, and blended learning.
• Build learning paths, practical assessments, competency frameworks, certification programs, and train-the-trainer initiatives.
• Assess capability gaps and measure participation, knowledge retention, proficiency, time to competency, feedback, and operational performance.
• Adapt training to local languages, cultures, regulations, and operational environments while maintaining consistent standards.
• Support operational changes involving new vehicles, technologies, tools, systems, processes, and policies.

Requirements

• Strong experience developing and implementing comprehensive operational training programs, including needs analysis, instructional design, delivery, and evaluation.
• Leadership experience in a high-velocity, safety-focused fleet, operational, or technical environment.
• Experience supporting training across multiple locations, regions, or culturally diverse teams.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, analytical, stakeholder-management, time-management, and prioritisation skills.
• Availability to work on-site five days a week in Sunnyvale and across US and Japan time zones.
• Clean and compliant driving record and a safety-conscious approach to identifying and escalating risks.

Nice to have

• Experience scaling training across countries and adapting programs to different languages, cultures, regulations, and operational contexts.
• Familiarity with learning-management systems, digital learning tools, and virtual or blended learning.
• Experience with advanced driver-assistance systems, sensors, onboard hardware, firmware, fleet data collection, or closed-loop testing.
• Background in automotive, autonomous vehicles, robotics, AI, mobility, or another safety-critical industry.
• Japanese-language capability or experience working with teams in Japan.

Hiring process

• Initial recruiter call lasting approximately 30 minutes.
• Competency interviews lasting approximately two hours in total, followed by three hours of deep-dive technical interviews.
• Final mission and values interview lasting approximately one hour.
