TL;DR
Field Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles): Diagnosing and repairing software and hardware faults across an autonomous vehicle fleet with an accent on rapid fault triage, safety compliance, and operational reliability. Focus on resolving incidents within a five-minute response target, supporting shift handovers, and improving diagnostic processes using Datadog, Mender, and JIRA.

Location: On-site at the office in Leonberg, Germany. Monday–Sunday shift rota with shifts from 06:00–15:00 or 13:00–22:00; weekend work and on-call coverage are required.

What you will do

  • Diagnose and resolve software and hardware faults on autonomous vehicles to maintain fleet uptime.
  • Perform structured fault triage with a five-minute response target and follow repair protocols.
  • Provide technical support across shifts, regions, and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Document repairs, communicate handovers, and escalate issues to the Field Engineering Lead.
  • Use Datadog, Mender, and JIRA for monitoring, diagnostics, and incident reporting.
  • Identify recurring issues and contribute to safer, more efficient operational processes.

Requirements

  • Full German driving licence.
  • Strong experience in vehicle diagnostics, fault triage, and repair, preferably in automotive, fleet operations, or ADAS.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly while meeting strict SLAs.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools, software monitoring platforms, and ticketing systems such as Datadog, Mender, and JIRA.
  • Fluency in both English and German is required.
  • Flexibility for on-call, weekend, and shift-based work, with rigorous adherence to safety and compliance procedures.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related technical field.
  • ADAS testing knowledge and safe vehicle-operation experience.
  • High-voltage/EV certification, electric vehicle experience, and practical diagnostic skills.
  • Experience improving operational processes and addressing recurring safety or efficiency issues.
