TL;DR
Functional Safety Manager (Robotics): Driving functional safety strategy, safety-case development, and regulatory alignment for human-robot systems with an accent on IEC 61508, ISO 13849, and cross-functional safety governance. Focus on leading HARA, FMEA, FTA, and STPA activities, deriving and tracing safety requirements across hardware and software, and preparing defensible safety evidence for certification.

What you will do

  • Drive the functional safety strategy across the product portfolio, including lifecycle processes, safety plans, and governance aligned with IEC 61508 and ISO 13849.
  • Build, coach, and coordinate safety engineers across multiple product lines.
  • Lead HARA, FMEA, FTA, STPA, and related safety-analysis campaigns from initial risk assessment through safety-case closure.
  • Ensure safety-requirement derivation, traceability, and verification across hardware, software, and system levels.
  • Develop and coordinate the implementation of safety concepts in products.
  • Represent safety matters to executive leadership, certification authorities, notified bodies, and auditors.

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of functional safety engineering experience and at least 2 years as an active Functional Safety Manager.
  • Deep expertise in IEC 61508, ISO 13849, and ISO 10218; working familiarity with ISO 26262, SOTIF, and EU Machinery Regulation / CE marking.
  • Experience with HARA, FMEA, FTA, STPA, ETA, reliability modeling, and structured safety argumentation using GSN or CAE.
  • Proficiency with Medini, APIS IQ, DOORS, Polarion, or equivalent tools.
  • Proven ability to coach safety engineers and communicate safety rationale to engineers, managers, and auditors.

Nice to have

  • TÜV FSEng, CFSE, or Exida certification.
  • Experience with autonomous or AI-enabled robotic systems.
