Salary: $177,400–$236,500 annually.

What you will do

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Metrology Equipment Engineers supporting wafer manufacturing operations.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for measurement excursions, equipment downtime, and data quality anomalies.
  • Prioritize preventive maintenance, qualification activities, investigations, and improvement projects according to production urgency and quality risk.
  • Oversee calibration, qualification, maintenance, and performance of optical, SEM, and physical wafer measurement systems.
  • Drive equipment and process improvements, next-generation technology qualification, and fleet performance monitoring.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, process integration, quality, equipment suppliers, calibration vendors, and senior engineering leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in metrology, semiconductor equipment engineering, or related manufacturing engineering.
  • 2+ years of people management or formal technical leadership experience.
  • Hands-on experience with wafer metrology equipment such as optical profilometers, ellipsometers, SEM/CD-SEM, or overlay measurement tools.
  • Strong knowledge of MSA, GRR, SPC, statistical analysis, equipment qualification, calibration standards, and metrology documentation.
  • Proficiency with Python, JMP, or equivalent data analysis tools, plus experience managing escalations and root-cause investigations.

Nice to have

  • Experience in HDD, MEMS, or advanced semiconductor wafer manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-assisted data analysis, predictive maintenance, or advanced process control.
  • Knowledge of pFMEA, DMAIC, or equivalent quality improvement frameworks.
  • Experience managing equipment suppliers and developing high-performing engineering teams.
