TL;DR

Location: San Jose, CA, USA; requires client-site commissioning, local travel, and 30–50% travel as needed, including occasional travel throughout North America.

Salary: $95,000–$120,000 per year, plus benefits, bonuses, and additional extra-hours payments.

What you will do

  • Engineer and implement real-time automation controls and industrial information solutions.
  • Architect full-system solutions spanning control logic, SCADA/HMI, networking, MES, data flow, and safety systems.
  • Program, debug, troubleshoot, test, and integrate systems across multi-vendor platforms.
  • Develop PLC/PAC systems, SCADA and HMI applications, databases, motion controls, vision systems, and high-level software solutions.
  • Design technical solutions and produce engineering notes, specifications, proposals, traceability documents, and FAT/SAT procedures.
  • Commission solutions at client sites, gather requirements, coordinate with remote teams, and mentor colleagues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, completed or in progress, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related Engineering Technology discipline.
  • 2–3 years of practical experience with PLCs, SCADA/HMI, networking, databases, motion, safety, or high-level programming.
  • Experience with Ignition Vision and Perspective, Allen-Bradley, and/or Beckhoff TwinCAT is strongly preferred; Ignition Vision and Perspective are required technologies for the role.
  • Knowledge of automation platforms, industrial networking, databases, programming, machine safety, and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage 5–10 concurrent projects.
  • Valid driver’s license, full-time access to a personal vehicle, and willingness to travel 30–50% for client and commissioning work.
