Project Engineer II/III - Automation (Industrial Automation)

Location: Irvine, California, United States; onsite role with at least 25% domestic and international travel.

Salary: Project Engineer II — $115,300–$170,400 per year; Project Engineer III — $136,100–$201,100 per year.

What you will do

• Complete complex assignments involving electric power system automation and SEL products.
• Train and assist customers with the design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of automation and protection systems.
• Lead work within agreed scope, schedule, and budget while maintaining quality and safety.
• Support proposals for SEL equipment, services, and systems.
• Mentor and develop professional staff and supervise when needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant application experience with electric power systems and industry practices.
• Knowledge of power system protection and control, integration, automation, communications, system design, studies, ICT, and protective relay applications.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally at least 25% of the time.
• Strong writing, documentation, speaking, teamwork, learning, and responsibility-taking skills.
• Satisfactory background check and negative drug test results.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license or equivalent certification.
• Experience in electrical utilities, industrial plants, consulting engineering, or system integration.
• Project management experience and familiarity with Vision or similar project tracking software.
