TL;DR
Senior Avionics Source Inspector, PCBA, First Shift (Aerospace): Performing source inspections and quality audits for PCBA and post-processing at supplier sites with an accent on avionics workmanship, documentation accuracy, and compliance with IPC and NASA standards. Focus on inspecting solder joints and electronic assemblies, identifying nonconformances, and verifying parts against purchase orders, blueprints, and bills of materials.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. First shift, Monday through Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. PT. The role requires approximately 50–80% travel to local and remote supplier sites.

Salary: $32.69–$49.04 USD per hour.

What you will do

  • Perform source inspections, supplier audits, and supplier quality and compliance activities.
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections of PCBA and post-processing at supplier facilities, with part-time support for in-house assembly.
  • Inspect solder joints, component placement, polarity, markings, conformal coating, cleanliness, and overall workmanship.
  • Use microscopes and electronic inspection equipment to identify defects and nonconformances.
  • Maintain inspection records and document nonconformances.
  • Review purchase orders, certificates of conformance, test reports, material traceability, FAI documentation, shipping records, drawings, and bills of materials.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of hands-on PCBA, electronics, SMT, or high-reliability electronic assembly inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to travel 50–80% of the time and work onsite at supplier facilities.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
  • Experience with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 Class 3 electronics assembly and soldering standards.
  • Familiarity with staking, underfill, and conformal coating standards, including IPC-610 Class 3 and NASA-STD-8739.1.

Nice to have

  • Experience with process development and first-time quality initiatives.
  • Ability to provide structure and direction in previously undefined areas.
  • Familiarity with certificates of conformance, FAI, and source inspection documentation.
  • Current or prior certification in NASA-STD-8739.1, IPC-A-610, or J-STD-001.
