TL;DR
Electrical Engineer I (Robotics) (analog electronics, FPGA, and microcontrollers): Developing and testing avionics hardware for robotic systems and space mechanisms with an accent on circuit design, PCB development, and hardware integration. Focus on performing circuit analysis, validating PCB assemblies, supporting manufacturing, and solving electrical design challenges for high-reliability aerospace applications.

Location: Pasadena, California, United States. This is an onsite role supporting hirify.global Robotics programs. U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements and ITAR restrictions.

Base salary: $82,400–$103,000 USD annually. Total compensation, including equity: $89,350–$115,025 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Develop and test avionics hardware for robotic systems and space programs.
  • Participate in electrical hardware development from requirements definition through design, prototyping, fabrication, testing, and production.
  • Design schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer.
  • Perform circuit, stress, and worst-case analyses using SPICE and Excel.
  • Execute PCBA design verification and system integration testing.
  • Provide production manufacturing support and take ownership of electronic ground support equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or another engineering discipline.
  • Strong background in analog electronics design.
  • Proficiency with SPICE, Excel, and basic electronic laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, power supplies, and soldering irons.
  • Experience with FPGA and microcontroller design in a professional or academic environment.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
  • Applicants must satisfy applicable U.S. ITAR access and authorization requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing for space environments, including radiation effects and mitigation.
  • Board bring-up and debugging experience.
  • Experience creating design verification test plans and executing tests.
  • Experience with high-reliability aerospace applications, rigid-flex PCBs, or electromechanical design.
