Structural Vibration Engineer (Structural Dynamics)

Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Flexible remote and international work schedule available.

Salary: $90,000–$105,000 annually.

What you will do

• Lead or independently deliver structural-vibration studies for new and existing buildings and infrastructure.
• Establish vibration criteria and perform modal, frequency-response, time-history, and other dynamic analyses.
• Plan and conduct field measurements, including instrumentation, data acquisition, signal processing, interpretation, and reporting.
• Develop and compare vibration-control strategies involving structural modifications, damping, equipment isolation, resilient supports, tuned mass dampers, and operational controls.
• Coordinate vibration requirements with structural, architectural, mechanical, equipment, and construction teams.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, design criteria, drawings, and presentations; review junior staff work and support client meetings, commissioning, proposals, and business development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil, structural, or related engineering; applied mechanics or physics may also be considered.
• Approximately 5–10 years of relevant consulting, research, or applied engineering experience in structural dynamics, building vibration, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of structural dynamics, vibration measurement, signal processing, dynamic loading, and human-perception or equipment-performance criteria.
• Experience with finite-element or other numerical models, field instrumentation and testing, and practical vibration-control measures.
• Strong technical writing, presentation, organization, communication, and project-coordination skills.
• Eligibility for professional registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario is required; P.Eng. registration is an asset.

Nice to have

• Experience with footfall-induced vibration, vibration-sensitive laboratories, healthcare or imaging facilities, advanced manufacturing, or other high-performance environments.
• Experience with vibration isolation, resilient supports, tuned mass dampers, construction-vibration monitoring, or dynamic testing.
• Experience with structural analysis, finite-element, data-acquisition, signal-processing, or scientific-computing software.
• Programming or automation experience using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with vibration standards, guidelines, proposals, client relationships, or business development.
