Data Center Structural Engineer

Location: United States (Remote); approximately 20–30% travel to project sites, fabrication facilities, vendors, general contractors, and construction locations worldwide.

Salary: $113,760–$142,200 USD annually, with geographic pay tiers; equity and subsidized benefits are also offered.

What you will do

• Identify, vet, and coordinate domestic and international structural engineering vendors and local certifying engineers for active modular data center projects.
• Own structural due diligence for new sites, assessing seismic, wind, snow, and soil conditions alongside local building codes and authority requirements.
• Develop repeatable structural designs for raised platforms, ISO containers and connections, foundations, pads, anchorage, and piping supports.
• Perform in-house structural analysis and design for new products and first-of-a-kind site conditions before jurisdictional review and stamping.
• Review shop drawings, anchoring and embedment details, and equipment integration for generators, transformers, PEMBs, and chillers through fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
• Maintain structural guidelines, site-readiness checklists, certification workflows, open-item tracking, and final operational-readiness sign-off.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer license, or an international equivalent such as Chartered Engineer.
• 5–7 years of hands-on structural analysis and design experience with steel and reinforced concrete structures, foundations, platforms, and equipment anchorage.
• Experience with structural analysis software and codes including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI, plus the ability to work with international codes such as NCC and Eurocode.
• Ability to assess seismic, wind, snow, and soil load conditions and independently perform structural design for new products and sites.
• Ability to work remotely from the United States and travel approximately 20–30%.

Nice to have

• Experience with modular, prefabricated, or ISO-container-based construction for data centers or other mission-critical facilities.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment anchorage, pre-engineered metal buildings, and raised platform or foundation systems.
• Experience managing external structural engineering vendors and certifying engineers across geographically dispersed projects.
• Experience creating design standards, templates, governance processes, or structural portfolios.
• Experience collaborating with product and hardware engineers, fabricators, general contractors, and local consultants across multiple regions.
