Dynamics Engineer (Hypersonic)

Location: Mojave, California, United States; remote work may be considered for well-qualified candidates. Travel is required, approximately 20%.

Base salary: $142,000–$174,700 per year, depending on level, location, education, skills, and interview assessment.

What you will do

• Lead aeroelastic development of a hypersonic vehicle across analysis, ground testing, model correlation, and flight testing.
• Perform aeroelastic and aeroservoelastic analysis, including flutter-margin assessment against program requirements.
• Create structural-flex and other vehicle models supporting Structures, Aerodynamics, and GNC teams.
• Lead structural-dynamics ground tests, develop instrumentation requirements, and support post-test analysis.
• Evaluate vehicle loads and environments including gust, vibration, and acoustics, and contribute to the structural finite-element model.
• Document technical results, assess structural-dynamics risks, and develop mitigation plans.

Requirements

• Strong background in structures and/or dynamics, with experience developing complex aerospace systems.
• Experience modeling and analyzing composite structures with FEMAP/Nastran or comparable finite-element tools.
• Experience with aeroelastic modeling using NASTRAN or ZAERO and with aeroelastic ground testing or model correlation.
• Strong data-processing and modeling skills with Python or MATLAB; familiarity with NASTRAN, MATLAB, ZAERO, IADS, and 3D CAD.
• Experience with vehicle loads development and vehicle or structural ground testing.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus 5–10 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice to have

• Hypersonic or supersonic vehicle development experience.
• Flutter flight-test and analysis experience, or air-launched vehicle development experience.
• Experience with C++, closed-loop system dynamics and control design, aeroservoelastic analysis, or FAR25 loads.
• Active S, TS, and/or SCI security clearance.
• Experience with FEMAP, Siemens NX, Teamcenter, JIRA, GIT, or JAMA.
