Environmental Technician

Location: Robinson, Illinois, United States. Onsite refinery role; relocation is not approved. Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without current or future employment visa sponsorship.

Salary: $70,400–$121,200 per year.

What you will do

• Support refinery environmental compliance through waste management, inspections, sampling, recordkeeping, and regulatory activities.
• Monitor hazardous waste disposal, oil spill control, hazard communication, and other environmental programs.
• Coordinate environmental and safety contractors, field activities, work clearances, and compliance audits.
• Manage waste transportation, storage, manifests, spent carbon canister change-outs, and monthly sampling.
• Support confined-space entry, hot-work permits, rescue plans, frac tank placement, and environmental equipment checks.
• Provide environmental oversight during turnarounds, including 12-hour day and night shift coverage, and participate in a rotating on-call schedule.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with four years of relevant experience.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to complete RCRA, DOT, and HAZWOPER training as required.
• Strong communication, decision-making, time-management, and mechanical skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn waste-management and environmental-compliance software.

Nice to have

• Refining or industrial environment experience.
• Forklift or backhoe operating experience.
• Experience with RCRA, BWON sampling protocols, and DOT compliance.
• Active Commercial Driver’s License.
