Optical Verification Engineer Co-op/Intern

Location: Onsite in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Pay range: CAD $24–35 per hour

What you will do

• Apply optics and photonics concepts to improve test and measurement robustness.
• Develop, implement, and expand automated test software and scripts.
• Design and execute test cases to validate critical product features.
• Analyze optical, hardware, and software failures and report findings to relevant designers.
• Use data analysis and troubleshooting to improve test coverage and result quality.
• Collaborate with optical engineers and software designers while working independently on assigned tasks.

Requirements

• At least two years completed toward a degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or an equivalent program.
• Current full-time or part-time registration at a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution is required.
• Data analysis experience with Python, NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, or similar tools.
• Technical expertise in active optical and electromagnetic components.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, test execution, bug reporting, and communication skills.
• Ability to take initiative, ask meaningful questions, and provide guidance to teammates.

Nice to have

• Experience applying machine learning or statistical modeling to real-world datasets.
• Familiarity with optical laboratory practices.
