Location: Boston, MA; Mountain View, CA; or Toronto, ON. Flexible hybrid workplace model.

Salary: $212,000–$321,000 USD base salary, with total compensation also including equity grants and other rewards.

What you will do

• Define the micro-architecture of photonic-based communication and switch fabrics.
• Propose photonic designs including modulators, receivers, multiplexers, lasers, and amplifiers.
• Work with photonic engineering to estimate device performance, power, and area for Passage.
• Collaborate with analog engineering on high-bandwidth photonic interconnect solutions.
• Author, review, and validate architectural specifications and technical documents.

Requirements

• PhD in electrical engineering, physics, applied physics, or a related photonics discipline.
• In-depth knowledge of photonic devices and semiconductor physics.
• Experience with integrated silicon photonics components.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across photonic and analog engineering teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills for technically complex problems without obvious solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience with photonic simulation tools such as FDTD, umerical, Verilog-A, or VPI Photonics.
