Engineer II - Design (PCIe/NVMe)

Location: Burnaby, Canada; on-site lab work required

What you will do

• Develop and execute silicon and system validation plans for PCIe switches, NVMe controllers, and existing devices.
• Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues in post-silicon environments.
• Build and improve validation tools, test automation scripts, and supporting software.
• Lead complex test execution and investigations using lab equipment and protocol analyzers.
• Report bugs and coordinate cross-functional efforts to isolate, investigate, and resolve issues.
• Guide and mentor junior engineers while sharing technical knowledge across teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience; suitable experience may also be considered for new graduates.
• Proficiency in Python, C, or similar scripting and programming languages.
• Strong understanding of digital systems, computer architecture, software engineering principles, and IC/SoC validation.
• Experience debugging prototype ICs, boards, and hardware infrastructure in a lab environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for cross-team collaboration and technical presentations.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of PCIe/CXL system architecture or NVMe storage interfaces.
• Knowledge of I2C, I3C, or SMBus interfaces.
• Experience with protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, high-speed digital design, or board-level development.
• Experience testing and debugging high-speed SERDES.
• Knowledge of FPGA design tools and VHDL or Verilog.
• Experience assembling computer systems and working with Linux and Windows.
