Mechanical Engineering Intern - Powertrain

Location: Onsite at the headquarters in Torrance, California, United States. Summer internship runs from June 14 to August 20, 2027.

Base pay: $36 per hour.

What you will do

• Own hardware development from specifications and design through prototyping, testing, and high-volume manufacturing.
• Design mechanical, thermal, and fluid systems for next-generation electric marine products.
• Build and test hardware hands-on.
• Use hand calculations, prototypes, and engineering software to develop parts.
• Support the design of next-generation products in a fast-moving startup environment.

Requirements

• Hands-on project experience.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanical, thermal, and fluids engineering.
• Exposure to manufacturing methods for engineering parts.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic experience with a CAD software package.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-performance electric vehicles, solar cars, Formula SAE, or similar projects.
• Knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink or other modeling software.
• FEA experience with any platform.
• Exposure to sheet metal manufacturing, CNC machining, CAM, and shop tools.
• Experience with boats, fast-paced manufacturing, or clean-energy products.
