Senior Software Engineer, Cloudflare for SaaS

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate backend services and RESTful APIs for customer domains and configuration.
• Evolve the control plane to support tens of millions of domains while maintaining correctness, availability, and API performance.
• Improve domain and certificate lifecycle workflows, including onboarding, validation, renewal, migration, and deletion.
• Model ownership and shared state across distributed services and configuration stores.
• Build observability, alerts, and operational procedures; participate in debugging and incident response.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams, document technical decisions, and review code.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience building backend systems at a technology company.
• Production-quality programming experience in Go or another language, with willingness to learn Go.
• Experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems or high-scale services.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across applications, data stores, and production environments.
• Proficiency with modern Unix/Linux development and runtime environments.
• Track record of delivering well-tested, reliable production code and communicating technical decisions clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience with external RESTful APIs, SQL, PostgreSQL, and relational schema and query design.
• Knowledge of consistency, caching, concurrency, failure recovery, and service-oriented architecture migrations.
• Experience with observability practices, including metrics, logs, tracing, alerting, and SLOs.
• Familiarity with PKI/TLS, certificate lifecycle management, ACME, DNS, domain validation, message queues, or Kubernetes.
