Senior Manager, Compute Accounting

Location: San Francisco, CA or Seattle, WA; hybrid attendance required at least 25% of the time

Annual salary: $190,000–$230,000 USD

What you will do

• Own the full accounting lifecycle for compute and cloud infrastructure expenses, including close activities, reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, journal entries, and flux analysis.
• Review cloud provider and infrastructure contracts, track commitments, and determine appropriate accounting treatment and disclosures.
• Apply ASC 842 to embedded leases, lease-versus-service classifications, measurements, modifications, and reassessments.
• Develop accounting policies and scalable processes for capacity reservations, savings plans, committed-use discounts, and other compute arrangements.
• Partner with Engineering, Legal, Procurement, Finance, vendors, and external auditors to resolve accounting and billing issues.
• Lead process transformation, automated data pipelines, reporting, reconciliation solutions, and AI-assisted close initiatives while mentoring accounting professionals.

Requirements

• CPA or equivalent qualification with deep GAAP and technical accounting expertise.
• Significant experience accounting for cloud service or compute infrastructure expenses and reviewing related contracts.
• Working knowledge of ASC 842 for compute, infrastructure, or data center arrangements.
• Experience building accounting processes, controls, and policies in high-growth environments.
• Experience with modern ERP systems such as NetSuite, Workday, Oracle, or similar.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and relevant experience.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience and experience mentoring accounting professionals.
• SQL, BigQuery, and Python proficiency for data analysis and automation.
• Experience with cloud providers, data centers, consumption-based business models, infrastructure leases, GPU clusters, or data center buildouts.
• Big Four accounting or advisory experience combined with technology industry experience.
• Experience using AI-assisted tools, including Claude, for financial analysis, memo drafting, and close automation.
