Development Engineer II (Python, SQL, Ignition, .NET)

Location: Waverly Office, Waverly, Nebraska, United States. On-site role on the first shift. Visa sponsorship and relocation assistance are not available.

What you will do

• Design, develop, debug, test, document, and maintain applications integrated with industrial platforms, operational data, databases, and hardware.
• Develop SQL Server and MySQL features, including tables, views, procedures, functions, and operational data models.
• Monitor and tune database performance for high-volume, append-heavy, and time-series industrial data.
• Support data ingestion and querying from Ignition gateways, tags, historians, and event-driven datasets.
• Troubleshoot incidents involving applications, servers, workstations, industrial PCs, devices, and plant-floor infrastructure.
• Coordinate secure deployments, incident response, and corrective actions with application development, automation, operations, and IT teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related quantitative or engineering field, or equivalent experience.
• At least one year of relevant or practical software development experience and experience supporting production systems in operational or industrial environments.
• Proficiency in at least two programming languages or software development tools.
• Production experience with SQL Server and MySQL, plus familiarity with data engineering, DevOps, CI/CD, and version control.
• Understanding of industrial data systems, hardware-integrated applications, or plant-floor technologies.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, technical writing, collaboration, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ignition gateways, tags, historians, and industrial event-driven datasets.
• Experience analyzing execution plans, query statistics, indexing strategies, and data access patterns.
