Software Systems Engineer Intern

Location: Fully onsite in San Diego, CA, Arlington, VA, or Mount Laurel, NJ, United States

Salary: $28–$34 per hour

What you will do

• Develop, test, maintain, and modernize software applications and features.
• Integrate software components, APIs, containers, and third-party technologies into existing systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to implement capabilities and resolve defects.
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, debugging, deployment, and sustainment.
• Create technical documentation and development artifacts throughout the software development lifecycle.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
• Current enrollment in an undergraduate or postgraduate program in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, data science, cybersecurity, mathematics, or aeronautical engineering.
• Familiarity with Git, Linux-based environments, command-line tools, SQL, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Docker, Podman, or other OCI-compliant container technologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Automation scripting experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Groovy.
• Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, or upgrading software applications and services.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, DevSecOps, and secure software development.
• Experience with Agile development environments and technical documentation.
