Software Systems Engineer Intern

Location: Fully on-site in San Diego, CA; Arlington, VA; or Mount Laurel, NJ, United States. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Salary: $28.00–$34.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Develop, test, maintain, and modernize software applications and features.
• Integrate software components, APIs, and third-party technologies into existing systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement capabilities and resolve defects.
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, debugging, deployment, and sustainment activities.
• Create technical documentation and development artifacts throughout the software development lifecycle.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate program in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, data science, cybersecurity, mathematics, or aeronautical engineering.
• Familiarity with Git or similar version control systems, Linux environments, command-line tools, SQL, and relational databases.
• Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker, Podman, or OCI-compliant containers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
• Ability to work fully on-site in San Diego, Arlington, or Mount Laurel.

Nice to have

• Automation scripting experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Groovy.
• Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, or upgrading software applications and services.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, DevSecOps, secure software development, and Agile practices.
• Strong technical documentation and project-status communication skills.
