Software Systems Engineer Intern

Location: Fully on-site in San Diego, CA; Arlington, VA; or Mount Laurel, NJ, United States

Salary: $28–$34 per hour

What you will do

• Develop, test, maintain, and modernize software applications and features.
• Integrate software components, APIs, and third-party technologies into existing systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement capabilities and resolve software defects.
• Write maintainable code and participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and debugging.
• Support software deployment, maintenance, and sustainment throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Create technical documentation and development artifacts.

Requirements

• Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
• Must work fully on-site in San Diego, Arlington, or Mount Laurel.
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree program in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, data science, cybersecurity, mathematics, or aeronautical engineering.
• Familiarity with Git, Linux-based environments, command-line tools, SQL, relational databases, and container technologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Automation scripting experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Groovy.
• Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, or upgrading software applications and services.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, DevSecOps, secure software development, and Agile practices.
• Strong technical writing, communication, initiative, and ownership.
