Sensor Scientist (Medical Devices)

Location: On-site in New Brighton, Minnesota, United States

Annual salary: $95,000–$125,000, plus eligibility for bonus or incentive pay.

What you will do

• Develop novel sensor and membrane designs as part of an interdisciplinary R&D team.
• Analyze, test, and evaluate complex sensor and system designs, manufacturing processes, techniques, and patentable concepts.
• Design experiments, interpret data, and prepare clear technical summary reports.
• Execute verification and validation of sensor constructions.
• Provide technical expertise to support manufacturing activities.
• Mentor and coach junior-level scientists.

Requirements

• 2+ years of relevant experience in the medical device or IVD industry.
• Prior R&D experience designing and developing biomedical or blood gas sensors.
• Expertise in statistical analysis software such as JMP or Minitab and/or statistical methods.
• An advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Engineering Sciences, or an equivalent field; relevant experience may contribute toward the degree requirement.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to turn plans into action.
• Ability to travel occasionally, less than 10%, for project, supplier, or manufacturing activities.

Nice to have

• Experience with electrochemistry.
• Experience translating plans into action.
