Location: Near Bridgeport and Danbury, United States

Base salary: $95,406–$143,108 per year, plus a performance-related bonus plan.

What you will do

  • Research, develop, and formulate surface treatment products for printed circuit boards, molded interconnects, connectors, and IC substrates.
  • Develop new products, material testing strategies, formulations, and improvements to existing products.
  • Study patents and technical literature covering resin systems, chemistry, and polymers.
  • Prepare presentations, reports, publications, and patent disclosures that communicate complex technical findings.
  • Collaborate with scientists, product managers, application teams, marketing teams, customers, and OEMs on product roadmaps and technical projects.
  • Mentor junior scientists and technologists while maintaining laboratory safety and EH&S compliance.

Requirements

  • PhD in inorganic chemistry, electrochemistry, polymer or materials science, or a related field, plus 3+ years of technical research experience.
  • Experience working safely in a wet chemistry laboratory with chemicals, solvents, and laboratory equipment.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, repeatable execution, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.
  • Clear written and verbal English communication is required.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, solve difficult technical problems, and coordinate cross-functional resources.
  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to EH&S standards, company policies, and applicable laws.

Nice to have

  • Industrial experience or an internship in metal electrodeposition, materials R&D, or formulation.
  • Hands-on experience with cyclic voltammetry, linear sweep voltammetry, potentiostats, SEM, optical microscopy, or other materials characterization methods.
  • Exposure to semiconductor materials such as photoresists, dielectrics, or plating additives.
  • Experience in a cleanroom or fabrication environment involving coating, lamination, lithography, or metrology.
  • Experience using Excel, JMP, Minitab, or similar tools for experimental data analysis.
