Operations Technician (Industrial Gases)

Location: Port Arthur, Texas, United States; onsite at the facility

What you will do

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment across a facility with steam methane reformers, gas turbine generators, and CO₂ capture systems.
• Support daily plant operations and production, reliability, cost-efficiency, and on-stream performance targets.
• Investigate equipment failures, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide technical and hands-on support for production units and planned shutdowns.
• Participate in site safety processes and follow operating procedures and safety regulations.
• Work 12-hour rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and a 24-hour on-call rotation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certificate in process technology or a maintenance-related field preferred, or at least 3 years of experience in manufacturing, production, processing, chemical, or petrochemical environments.
• Strong mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical proficiency preferred.
• Experience with pumps, mechanical seals, vessels, exchangers, gear drives, compressors, rotating equipment, or electrical and instrumentation systems is beneficial.
• Commitment to safety and continuous improvement, with the ability to work independently.
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs, lift at least 50 pounds, work at elevated heights, and meet call-in requirements.

Nice to have

• Process technology or maintenance-related certification.
• Experience with plant or refinery instrumentation and electrical systems.
• Background in industrial systems, electromechanical, process, electrical, or instrumentation technology.
• Microsoft Office proficiency and SkillsUSA participation.
