Operations Specialist, Level 1-4 (Gas Pipelines)

Location: Onsite in Carlsbad, New Mexico, United States. Travel, emergency callouts, overtime, and work in extreme weather or confined spaces may be required.

What you will do

• Operate engines, pumps, compressors, turbines, process equipment, and related pipeline systems within defined parameters.
• Diagnose, repair, install, and maintain engines, pumps, valves, seals, instruments, pipelines, corrosion-control systems, and measurement equipment.
• Maintain compressor stations, pipelines, storage areas, rights-of-way, facilities, vehicles, and auxiliary equipment.
• Oversee third-party construction and maintenance activities, train personnel, and represent the company with landowners, officials, and local organizations.
• Perform DOT, state agency, EPA, USFS, safety, environmental, documentation, and operational compliance activities.
• Develop and follow operating and maintenance procedures, site-specific procedures, project scopes, and work plans.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic computer and mathematics skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and company software.
• Valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the company and its insurers.
• Ability to respond to after-hours callouts and emergencies, work with limited supervision, follow schedules and procedures, and collaborate with operations, engineering, suppliers, customers, and management.
• Ability to work outdoors and in extreme weather, confined spaces, elevated platforms, excavated areas, ladders, stairwells, and low-lit areas; lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
• Successful completion of a drug screen and background check is required before employment.

Nice to have

• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and diagrams.
• Knowledge of flammable gas and liquid handling and high- and low-pressure systems.
• Experience analyzing, adjusting, and making minor repairs to compressor engines, pumps, and related equipment.
• Knowledge of pipeline operations or compression.
