Generator Technician I (Generators)

What you will do

• Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on generators.
• Provide scheduled preventative maintenance and emergency repairs during working hours, after-hours, weekends, and holidays as directed.
• Read and interpret operational manuals, electrical schematics, generator literature, and work orders.
• Diagnose faulty operations and defective materials, then report findings to the service manager.
• Prepare detailed work reports in FieldServio and communicate findings by phone, email, and in person.
• Maintain knowledge of National Fire Protection Association and state regulations for emergency power supply systems.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Valid driver license and at least one year of mechanical experience.
• Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, and connection diagrams.
• Experience with engine maintenance, diesel or gaseous engines, natural gas fuel systems, and transfer switch operations.
• Ability to troubleshoot independently, work with minimal supervision, communicate effectively, and provide detailed reports within 24 hours.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions, wear required PPE, lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance, and potentially obtain a DOT Medical Card.

Nice to have

• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Two to three years of industrial experience.
