Genomic Data Scientist - 12 Month FTC (Cancer Genomics)

Location: London, United Kingdom; required to be based at the Canary Wharf office 1 day per week. The role follows a blended working model, with office locations in London, Cambridge and Leeds.

What you will do

• Develop and fine-tune algorithms for variant prioritization and classification in cancer diagnostics and screening.
• Benchmark and improve tools for processing and analyzing whole-genome data.
• Perform custom computational analyses across germline and somatic genomic data.
• Manage the full NGS analysis cycle from sequencing quality control through annotation and variant prioritization.
• Work in an agile, multidisciplinary analytical team supporting the cancer pipeline squad.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Python and R for data processing and analysis.
• Knowledge of statistics and/or machine learning, including evaluation of assumptions, limitations and results.
• Familiarity with high-throughput sequencing algorithms and expertise in cancer genomics, tumor drivers and targeted pathways.
• Experience developing high-quality reusable code, with strong Git and CI/CD skills.
• Experience working in a cross-functional analytical team in an academic or industry setting.
• PhD degree or equivalent practical industry experience.
