Senior Bioinformatics Scientist (Genomics)

Base salary: GBP 44,000–66,000 per year, plus eligible variable cash compensation and potential equity.

What you will do

• Assess and improve secondary analysis algorithms for somatic variant calling and tumor biomarker detection.
• Prototype and evaluate NGS algorithms for clinical oncology, including minimal residual disease and emerging biomarker applications.
• Analyze sequencing data at read level to identify algorithmic improvements and innovative solutions.
• Design, execute, and interpret experiments with internal and external research and development teams.
• Support oncology assay development and optimization through advanced bioinformatics analysis.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, troubleshoot challenges, deliver production-ready solutions, and provide technical guidance to stakeholders and partners.

Requirements

• Strong background in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics, mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Deep knowledge in at least two of statistics, common bioinformatics methods, NGS analysis, C++ software development, and oncology.
• Proven experience developing bioinformatics algorithms beyond using existing tools.
• Strong Python programming skills are essential.
• Experience with C++ is highly desirable.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and work independently across scientific, engineering, and commercial teams.
