Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States

Base salary: $180,000–$215,000 per year, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Design and develop interoperability services connecting on-premise hospital EHR systems with AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Implement data modeling and persistence strategies for a unified platform for managing heart disease.
• Build and maintain scalable, secure data acquisition and ingestion pipelines for patient data.
• Develop reliable REST APIs using healthcare standards including FHIR and HL7.
• Ensure integrations and data flows meet FDA, HIPAA, security, compliance, and quality requirements.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, system design discussions, mentoring, and engineering best practices.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Strong Python development skills and experience with Domain-Driven Design, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience integrating Electronic Health Record systems and working with FHIR and HL7.
• Experience with data modeling, scalable persistence layers, cloud systems, secure REST APIs, and high-volume data platforms.
• Experience designing comprehensive testing strategies covering unit, functional, and system-level testing.

Nice to have

• Experience with Software as a Medical Device and cardiology data acquisition.
• Experience working in regulated healthcare environments and with FDA or HIPAA requirements.
