Senior Backend Engineer II - Data (Healthcare)

Location: Remote, USA. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require current or future employer visa sponsorship.

Base salary: $165,000–$180,000 in local currency, depending on experience and geographic location.

What you will do

• Build and operate Python backend services and RESTful APIs for the Medical Data Server.
• Design scalable clinical data models using FHIR and HL7 interoperability standards.
• Develop batch and event-driven pipelines that ingest, transform, validate, and deliver clinical data.
• Implement automated data validation, testing, reconciliation, monitoring, lineage, provenance, versioning, retention, and auditability.
• Create transformation layers and curated datasets for clinical reporting, analytics, product functionality, and AI use cases.
• Lead design discussions, review implementations, mentor engineers, and collaborate with clinical, product, architecture, analytics, and AI teams.

Requirements

• 6–8 years of software engineering experience, including ownership of production services and databases.
• Strong experience building production Python applications and APIs with FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
• Experience designing and operating scalable batch, streaming, or event-driven data pipelines.
• Hands-on healthcare data experience with FHIR resources, HL7 standards, terminology, and interoperability challenges.
• Experience designing normalized, dimensional, and domain-oriented data models.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with FHIR servers, clinical data repositories, electronic health record systems, or medical imaging and reporting workflows.
• Familiarity with SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, or DICOM.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, clinical reporting, or AI-enabled healthcare products.
