Staff Software Engineer

Location: On-site in San Francisco, United States

Salary: $175K–$245K per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Develop large-scale progressive and single-page web applications that streamline radiology workflows.
• Build Python and FastAPI backend services, REST APIs, integrations, and ML pipeline services.
• Deliver features for a rapidly growing customer base while maintaining security, maintainability, and performance in a high-scale HIPAA environment.
• Collaborate with Product Management, ML, Data Science, Customer Success, and internal and external stakeholders.
• Improve product quality, security, performance, and operational practices across the team.
• Mentor engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, design collaboration, and engineering-practice development.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience in single- and multi-tenant environments.
• In-depth knowledge of Python and FastAPI or equivalent modern languages and frameworks.
• Knowledge of relational and document databases, large-scale data storage, and modern web architecture.
• Experience with unit and integration testing, Git, distributed teams, and diagnosing large-scale performance problems.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools while maintaining high standards for code quality, reliability, and security.
• Ability to work on-site in San Francisco, United States.

Nice to have

• PostgreSQL experience.
• Experience with third-party integrations such as Auth0 and Amplitude.
• Early-stage startup experience.
• Experience in a HIPAA-compliant environment, especially with FHIR and HL7.
• Experience working on machine learning systems.
