Team Lead, OpenADMET

Location: Emeryville, California, United States; onsite

Salary: $195,000–$230,000 annual salary, depending on experience.

hirify.global is a clinical-stage drug discovery company developing therapeutics for protein misfolding diseases through synthetic biology, generative chemistry, and AI/ML.

What you will do

• Lead strategy and execution for hirify.global’s contributions to the OpenADMET consortium in partnership with UCSF and OMSF.
• Build relationships with funders, provide progress updates, and scope future funding stages.
• Grow the OpenADMET community, including blind challenge participants and ADMET prediction researchers.
• Select, develop, and onboard ADMET assays that run robustly and reproducibly at high throughput.
• Connect high-throughput synthesis with ADMET assays in a closed design-make-test loop, including microscale synthesis and quantification technology development.
• Lead and grow a cross-functional team working with machine learning scientists, software engineers, biologists, chemists, and automation engineers.

Requirements

• PhD in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 8–10+ years of experience in small-molecule drug discovery, including leadership of large, cross-functional projects and teams; industry experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience spanning ADME/DMPK and medicinal chemistry, with the ability to reason about ADME through structure–property relationships.
• Experience building platforms or enabling technologies such as assays, high-throughput workflows, data infrastructure, or automation infrastructure.
• Comfort working with data and AI tools, building workflows, and moving between strategic planning and execution.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, adaptability, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Strong industry experience in small-molecule drug discovery.
• Experience with open science and public-facing drug discovery initiatives.
