Associate Scientist/Scientist I, Translational Biology

Location: Cambridge, MA, USA; office-based work is indicated for office-based employees.

Expected base salary: $88,000–$144,000 USD annually, with bonus potential and early-stage equity.

What you will do

• Serve as a flow cytometry subject-matter expert, designing and executing high-dimensional multi-parameter panels for LNP uptake, delivery, expression, immune activation, and phenotyping.
• Process liver, spleen, and whole-blood samples from mouse, rat, NHP, and human studies, generating viable single-cell suspensions for downstream analysis.
• Develop and run assays using flow cytometry, ELISA, multiplex immunoassays, qPCR, IncuCyte, and other cell biology readouts.
• Drive high-throughput and plate-based screening with liquid handling and automation teams.
• Analyze and present data, translate results into experimental strategy, and maintain high-integrity laboratory records.
• Mentor junior scientists and collaborate with biology, automation, and data teams.

Requirements

• BS with 5+ years or MS with 3+ years of hands-on laboratory experience in biology, biochemistry, immunology, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
• Advanced expertise in multi-parameter and spectral flow cytometry, including panel design, fluorophore selection, compensation/unmixing, instrument QC, acquisition, and interpretation.
• Hands-on FlowJo experience with gating strategy design and multi-parameter analysis.
• Expertise in ex vivo tissue processing and cell isolation, including perfusion, dissociation, density-gradient separation, and RBC lysis across multiple species.
• Experience with FACS, bead isolation, automated or plate-based flow acquisition, and electronic laboratory records.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot experiments, manage concurrent studies, and contribute to assay development.

Nice to have

• Experience with LNPs, nucleic acid therapeutics, tissue biodistribution, or tissue-resident immune cell analysis.
• Experience with qPCR, ddPCR, CRO coordination, assay SOPs, validation packages, ELISA development, automation, or liquid handlers.
• Experience with MSD, Luminex, or ELLA multiplex immunoassays.
