TL;DR
Journeyman HVAC Technician (HVAC): Commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, and starting up commercial HVAC systems at customer locations with an accent on air conditioning theory, pipe fitting, mechanical layouts, and customer service. Focus on diagnosing complex equipment issues, coordinating on-site repairs, enforcing safety standards, and working in physically demanding environments.

Location: Markham, Ontario, Canada; onsite and field-based at customer locations

Salary: $65.06 CAD per hour

What you will do

  • Commission, start up, troubleshoot, service, and repair commercial HVAC systems.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact for assigned equipment and projects.
  • Coordinate with team leaders, project managers, customers, and other partners on installations and repairs.
  • Use diagnostic software, hand tools, blueprints, and engineering specifications to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Maintain safety, asset accountability, and service quality while working overtime, weekends, and occasional overnight stays.

Requirements

  • Good standing as a member of UA Local 787 and at least five years of HVAC experience.
  • Red Seal HVAC certification (313A) and Gas 1 ticket required.
  • Valid driver’s license held for at least 12 months with no major or frequent recent traffic violations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficiency with handheld computers such as smartphones or iPads.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles and use ladders, fall-protection equipment, safety boots, and other protective equipment.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including climbing, kneeling, confined-space access, rooftop access, extended standing, and lifting over 40 pounds occasionally.
