Mechanical Engineer IV (HVAC)

Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; onsite role

Salary: CAD 130,000–165,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead the mechanical discipline scope across studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation, construction administration, commissioning, and startup.
• Design and oversee HVAC, mechanical utility, piping, plumbing, and related building systems.
• Manage discipline budgets, task planning, project scheduling, quality reviews, and coordination with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, and manufacturers.
• Lead field surveys, existing-condition assessments, construction support, RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch lists, and progress reporting.
• Act as Engineer-of-Record and direct mechanical engineering and design staff on advanced projects.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and designers and support technical training.

Requirements

• ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical focus.
• At least 10 years of experience for the Lead position.
• Professional Engineer registration in good standing.
• Advanced experience with engineering calculations and HVAC, mechanical utility, and piping system design.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, fire, and building codes.
• Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and construction trade partners and to travel for client development, project execution, and training.

Nice to have

• Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, laboratory, or food and beverage environments, including GMP manufacturing.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and BIM workflows.
• LEED, WELL, or another sustainable design accreditation or experience with sustainable design.
• Experience with Enscape, Unifi, Dynamo, Grasshopper, Rhino, plumbing design, mechanical troubleshooting, and industry standards.
