TL;DR

Focus on preparing coordinated layouts, reviewing shop drawings, maintaining design standards, and supporting site surveys and junior staff development.

Salary: $70,000–$85,000 annually

What you will do

  • Create mechanical designs and technical drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection layouts with limited supervision.
  • Set up heating and cooling load calculation files, prepare preliminary motor lists, and support equipment selection.
  • Maintain design files and ensure AutoCAD/Revit standards and internal design checklists are followed.
  • Review and process shop drawings, write reports, and attend site surveys with senior staff.
  • Assist senior designers and project leads with stakeholder meetings, client relationships, and junior staff training.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of AutoCAD experience, including academic and professional experience.
  • At least 2 years of design experience with HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for different building types.
  • Ability to read architectural, structural, and electrical drawings with limited supervision.
  • Ability to apply plumbing, building, and sprinkler code requirements, including NFPA, BCBC, and the BC Plumbing Code.
  • Mechanical engineering university degree or college diploma is an asset.

Nice to have

  • Revit MEP experience.
  • Knowledge of energy modeling and calculations.
  • EIT classification.
