HVAC Engineer (AI)

Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada; hybrid work with specific in-office days each month

Annual base salary: CAD 85,816.66–120,084.99

What you will do

• Develop and refine HVAC sequences of operation that support optimization algorithms for facility mechanical systems.
• Review mechanical and control drawings, submittals, equipment configurations, and control readiness.
• Analyze BAS trend data and system performance to validate assumptions, identify anomalies, and benchmark results.
• Collaborate with AI research, MLOps, algorithm, software development, and system architecture teams.
• Test and validate algorithms through virtual simulations and real-world field trials, including energy savings, comfort, and reliability outcomes.
• Support troubleshooting, technical documentation, training, and continuous improvement of optimization capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program.
• Deep knowledge of thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, refrigeration cycles, and building automation systems.
• Meaningful experience in applied HVAC system design and/or commissioning.
• Strong technical understanding of mechanical system design and controls.
• French and English bilingualism required, including daily written and oral communication in English.
• Active Professional Engineer license is preferred but not required.
