Machinist II (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite in Torrance, California, United States; 1st shift, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

Salary: $30.00–$40.00 per hour

What you will do

• Set up and operate multiple manual and CNC machines, including lathes, mills, drills, grinders, hones, and gear-machining equipment.
• Plan machining sequences, select or improve tooling, perform changeovers, and meet production time and part-count targets.
• Inspect first pieces and in-process work using micrometers, calipers, comparator charts, and GD&T blueprints.
• Edit G-code and M-code, perform CNC block checks, update machine offsets, and resolve programming errors.
• Troubleshoot setups, tool wear, material issues, and production problems in collaboration with programming and engineering teams.
• Mentor junior operators and support 5S, Kaizen, and other continuous-improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of CNC machining experience.
• Ability to understand and apply verbal, written, and computer-based work instructions or training in English.
• Experience with blueprint reading, complex GD&T symbols, gear data charts, and practical shop mathematics.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
• Ability to troubleshoot machine setups, recognize tool wear, change inserts, and update machine offsets.
• Ability to work onsite in Torrance, California, on the 1st shift.

Nice to have

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience with Gleason shapers, gear hobbing, gear skiving, gear shaping, Okuma 5-axis machining centers, multitasking lathes, Swiss-style lathes, or automated cells.
