CNC Machinist – Horizontal Milling Center – Boring Bar

Location: South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States; onsite at the South Milwaukee facility. Second- or third-shift work.

Salary: $29.67–$37.09 per hour, with pay progression from $30.86 to $33.42 per hour and a $1.00 per hour second- or third-shift premium. A $2,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

What you will do

• Set up and operate CNC horizontal milling centers, large boring mills, and boring bar machines.
• Machine large steel weldments, castings, forgings, plates, and structural components.
• Interpret blueprints, manufacturing work instructions, and operation sequences.
• Select tooling and perform boring, facing, drilling, tapping, and counterboring operations.
• Load, verify, edit, and run CNC programs using G-code and M-code; adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets.
• Perform in-process inspections and handle materials with jib and overhead cranes while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Requirements

• 1–3+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience.
• Experience with horizontal boring mills or large machining centers.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings and apply machine-shop math, including basic trigonometry.
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measurement tools.
• Knowledge of G-code/M-code programming fundamentals and machining processes.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.

Nice to have

• Experience machining large steel structures or heavy equipment components.
• Familiarity with Fanuc or Siemens CNC controls.
• Experience with tight-tolerance machining on large parts.
• Heavy industrial or OEM manufacturing experience.
• Crane operation or rigging experience.
