Head of AI Operations

What you will do

• Own the maturity model, including the rubric, scoring method, evidence standard, appeals path, assessments, and written improvement plans.
• Define and publish operational standards for work tracking, decision-making, shared tooling, documentation, onboarding, and accountability.
• Run automated weekly reporting, blockers-and-decisions forums, monthly leadership reviews, and quarterly board-level operating formats.
• Manage private assessments, public transparency rollouts, and company-wide adoption without direct authority over participating teams.
• Hire, develop, review, and direct two senior individual contributors responsible for platform and enablement work.
• Measure and publish outcomes, including the amount of coordination work absorbed by agents versus a human program office.

Requirements

• Experience running operating cadence and program discipline at a remote, async company of approximately 200–800 people.
• Hands-on experience building agentic AI workflows that others depended on, with the ability to review agent workflow definitions, data models, and pull requests.
• Experience taking an operational standard from zero to company-wide adoption without direct authority over adopters.
• Experience running maturity models or capability assessments across teams, publishing results, and driving organizational reallocations.
• Exceptional written communication skills and strong working knowledge of Git, Markdown, and pull requests.
• Experience permanently replacing a recurring meeting with an automated system and comfort with being publicly evaluated by the system built.
