Electrical Engineer II (Automotive)

Location: Onsite in Gaffney, South Carolina, US. The role is open to applicants who can work in or relocate to Gaffney; relocation assistance is not available.

Starting salary: $86,000–$110,000 USD per year, depending on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Develop and design advanced commercial vehicle components, wiring, power distribution, and control systems.
• Manage mechatronics engineering projects supporting production and service.
• Coordinate with engineering teams, internal departments, external suppliers, and test and validation teams throughout product development.
• Research vehicle-industry developments and apply statistical, engineering, programming, modeling, and mathematical techniques.
• Design systems that meet government regulations, restrictions, and codes.
• Analyze prototype and testing issues and provide technically feasible solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Automotive Engineering, or six years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes and downstream impacts.
• Project management experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Permanent legal authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship and existing visa holders are not eligible.

Nice to have

• Five years of related experience.
• Experience developing and releasing commercial vehicle electrical systems and controls to production.
• Knowledge of CAN message formatting, network topology, medium- and heavy-duty vehicle electrical systems, controls, infotainment, and instrumentation.
• Experience with CAD electrical workbenches, engineering documentation systems, and 3D design.
