Technical Specialist - Advanced Power Inverter System Design & Integration (Electric Vehicles)

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; hybrid with onsite attendance at least 3 times per week. The role is not eligible for relocation benefits, and relocation costs are the candidate's responsibility. Export control restrictions require the candidate to be a U.S. Person or eligible to obtain the required export control authorization.

What you will do

• Set strategic direction and coordinate technology roadmaps for advanced power inverters and power electronics system design and integration.
• Lead inverter technology development covering design, analysis, modeling, simulation, testing, and technical reporting.
• Develop inverter and power electronics solutions that meet performance and cost targets for future electric vehicles.
• Define system and component requirements while balancing interdisciplinary requirements for optimized vehicle and subsystem performance.
• Coordinate technical support staff, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, cost, planning, and program teams.
• Lead benchmarking, research, knowledge sharing, mentoring, and collaboration with universities, national laboratories, and professional organizations.

Requirements

• Master of Science or PhD in engineering or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in automotive power electronics.
• Extensive knowledge of inverter and power electronics theory, design, development, testing, specification, and production implementation.
• Experience with electric vehicle systems integration, vehicle-level problem solving, modeling and simulation tools, and high-voltage laboratory testing.
• Experience leading advanced technology projects, supplier programs, and cross-functional teams without direct authority.
• DFSS Black Belt certification, strong analytical and communication skills, autonomy, availability to work non-standard hours with overseas suppliers, and willingness to travel.

Nice to have

• PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field focused on power electronics.
• Experience with wide-bandgap semiconductor device-based power electronics systems.
• Patents, publications, or presentations demonstrating technical expertise in power electronics systems.
• Experience with competitive vehicle and component-level inverter and power electronics benchmarking.
