Controls Engineer (E) (Robotic Packaging Automation)

Location: Middleton, Wisconsin, USA; the role includes installation, startup, commissioning, customer on-call participation, and travel.

What you will do

• Develop and program robot, PLC, servo, and HMI software for robotic packaging automation machinery.
• Prepare control software using existing libraries and modify software for existing machines.
• Interpret technical specifications and application parameters.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineering teams on software and hardware integration.
• Support machine installation, startup, commissioning, and launch of new automation equipment.
• Partner with other departments and support customer-focused project execution.

Requirements

• Two-year Applied Science degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, industrial automation, or robotic programming, or more than two years of related full-time experience.
• Experience with PLC programming, HMI development, and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of automation technologies, including high-speed assembly machinery, SCADA, gantry systems, six-axis robotics, and FANUC robots.
• Experience with FANUC programming and Allen-Bradley PLC programming.
• Ability to analyze and resolve problems, interpret engineering principles, plan work, and maintain accuracy.
• Willingness to participate in a shared customer on-call rotation and travel.

Nice to have

• Experience with AutoCAD and blueprint reading.
