Controls Engineer II (Industrial Automation)

Location: Trenton, South Carolina, USA; onsite work with occasional travel.

What you will do

• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and commission industrial automation control systems.
• Program PLCs, HMIs, and drives and resolve equipment controls issues.
• Guide equipment suppliers and installation contractors on capital control system projects.
• Prepare statements of work, status reports, budgets, functional specifications, and system design specifications.
• Test and validate changes, support customer acceptance, and train users.
• Provide technical guidance and mentor project team members and facility engineering resources.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
• At least 3 years of experience programming industrial controls, PLCs, HMIs, and industrial communication protocols.
• At least 3 years of experience programming PLCs, HMIs, and drives with Rockwell RSLogix/Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View.
• Working knowledge of industrial automation and 24/7 shop-floor environments.
• Ability to work safely in electrical cabinets and troubleshoot automation equipment hands-on.
• Effective written and verbal communication with vendors and technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Fanuc robot troubleshooting and support experience.
• Experience with GE Proficy Suite, Machine Edition, and Historian.
• Experience with automation equipment in a high-uptime environment.
• Knowledge of Ethernet/IP configuration and troubleshooting.
• Experience managing technical projects through initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, commissioning, and closure.
